ADAS Requirements Reference
Mazda ADAS Calibration Requirements
Mazda requires radar aiming after any radar unit or bracket replacement, FSC aiming after every Forward Sensing Camera R&R, and an MRCC initialization any time the steering-angle-sensor module is serviced — skipping any leaves MRCC, SBS, and DRSS non-functional. Level 5 Solutions has extensive experience with Mazda ADAS procedures.
What Mazda requires — by repair
When Mazda requires ADAS recalibration
Wheel alignment & suspension
- Any removal or replacement of the steering-angle-sensor module requires an MRCC Initialization Setting via M-MDS before return to service; failure to initialize leaves MRCC, SBS, and DRSS inoperable.Source: Mazda — id152000004300, "MRCC Initialization Setting (CX-5)" (2024)
Sensor, camera & radar R&R
- After replacing the radar unit or its bracket, radar aiming is required using the M-MDS scan tool and reflector SST on level ground with at least 8 m of clear space ahead; without it, MRCC, SBS, and DRSS remain disabled.Source: Mazda — id152000004600, "Radar Unit Aiming (CX-5)" (2024)
- Before removing the Forward Sensing Camera, its configuration must be saved via M-MDS. After reinstallation, FSC aiming is required — all FSC-controlled safety systems stay disabled until aiming completes.Source: Mazda — id152000001800, "Forward Sensing Camera Removal/Installation (CX-5)" (2024)

Frequently asked
Mazda ADAS, answered.
- What happens if a Mazda radar unit is replaced without aiming?
- MRCC, Smart Brake Support, and the Distance Recognition Support System remain disabled. Mazda requires radar aiming with the M-MDS tool and reflector SST on level ground after every radar unit or bracket replacement.

- Does removing the Mazda Forward Sensing Camera require calibration afterward?
- Yes. The FSC configuration must be saved via M-MDS before removal, and a full FSC aiming must be performed after reinstallation. All FSC-dependent safety systems are disabled until aiming completes.
