ADAS Requirements Reference
BMW ADAS Calibration Requirements
BMW requires sensor programming, coding, and calibration after any ACC sensor or windshield-camera service — and the rear-view camera must be recalibrated after rear body work or wheel alignment. Level 5 Solutions has completed many BMW ADAS calibrations and carries the diagnostic tooling the procedures demand.
What BMW requires — by repair
When BMW requires ADAS recalibration
Wheel alignment & suspension
- The rear-view camera (RFK) must be calibrated with BMW's optical target tool on a level surface after camera or control-module replacement, rear body repair, wheel alignment, or axle repair.Source: BMW — B04 05 07 [SI], "Rear View Camera (RFK) — Calibration" (Feb 2007)
Sensor, camera & radar R&R
- The ACC sensor requires programming/coding and calibration via a connected diagnostic system on both R&I and full replacement; the windshield camera requires calibration after camera or windshield replacement.Source: BMW — REP tables (V.5), "Additional Work for Electronic Components — 540i (G30)" (Oct 2024)
Collision & body repair
- On the G22 platform, the lane-change-warning sensor requires coding on replacement and calibration after any body repair in the area surrounding the sensor before return to service.Source: BMW — REP tables (V.5), "Additional Work for Electronic Components — 430i xDrive (G22)" (Oct 2024)

Frequently asked
BMW ADAS, answered.
- Does a BMW wheel alignment trigger any ADAS recalibration?
- Yes. BMW's RFK bulletin specifies that a wheel alignment or axle repair requires rear-view camera recalibration with BMW's optical target tool on a level surface.

- Is programming required when replacing a BMW ACC sensor, or just calibration?
- Both. BMW's REP table for the G30 lists programming/coding and calibration as separate required operations on ACC sensor R&I and replacement — calibration alone is not sufficient.
